In a significant step towards improving public welfare in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the Ehsas Apna Ghar Scheme. This groundbreaking initiative focuses on providing interest-free loans to low-income families for housing construction and renovation.

The MoU was formalized in a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House, Peshawar. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presided over the event, which was attended by provincial cabinet members Dr. Amjad Ali and Muzammil Aslam, along with officials from the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber (BoK).

Key Features of the Ehsas Apna Ghar Scheme

Under the scheme, eligible individuals will have access to interest-free loans up to Rs1.5 million. These loans can be utilized for:

  • Constructing a new house on owned land.
  • Expanding or renovating existing housing.

The scheme operates on a revolving fund system with a budget allocation of Rs4 billion, ensuring its continuation for seven years.

  • Repayment Plan: Seven years with a maximum monthly installment of Rs18,000.

Chief Minister’s Commitment to Quality Housing

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur highlighted the government’s commitment to providing quality housing for low-income families. He described the Ehsas Apna Ghar scheme as a critical initiative aimed at improving the living standards of underprivileged communities while fostering economic uplift across the province.

He also directed officials to maintain transparency in the loan disbursement process, ensuring that only deserving individuals benefit from the program.

Other Welfare Programs Under the Ehsas Initiative

The Chief Minister shared updates on other welfare initiatives under the Ehsas program, including:

  • Ehsas Naujawan: Focused on empowering youth.
  • Ehsas Hunar: Enhancing skill development.
  • Ehsas Rozgar: Creating employment opportunities.

These programs aim to holistically uplift the province’s socio-economic standards and provide a brighter future for its residents.

Emergency Measures for Medicine Supply in Kurram District

The Chief Minister also addressed the shortage of medicines in Kurram district due to road blockages. He has allocated the provincial government’s helicopter to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential medicines to the area.

  • Two consignments of life-saving drugs worth Rs6.3 million have already been delivered by air.
  • The helicopter will remain operational for deliveries until road connectivity is restored.

The Advisor for Health and the Health Secretary are personally overseeing the distribution process to ensure timely delivery. The Chief Minister emphasized that the availability of essential medicines must be guaranteed at all times.
